Free FlightFree Flight Visitors - April 29-June 4, 2009

KBC will be welcoming two boys from the Free Flight Association located in the municipality of Aguas Lindas de Goias in the state of Goias, Brazil. Our partner in mission, Joyce Hancock of CBM and some friends launched this ministry in 2004 as an offshoot of the Ministério SERVO (Servant Ministry), a rehabilitation centre in Brasilia designed specifically for youth.

KBC has sent two mission teams to Brazil to work with Joyce and her partners. After much discussion in 2008 it was decided to offer the opportunitiy to bring several of the boys from Brazil to visit and minister to us here in Quispamsis, N.B. We hope this will help them to further develop their Christian walk as well as advance their careers.

LOOK WHO'S COMING TO VISIT - PROFILES

Frank Veras da Fonseca - Frank was born in the Federal District (Ceilandia) and went to school (elementary and high school) there. He has always been interested in computers so took a course in computer technician while still in high school. With that course, he began to teach computer classes with us a few days a week. Now he is fulltime.

Frank began to learn English in a government school in Ceilandia but took more classes with us and has improved his conversation skills with us and with volunteer teams visiting Free Flight. Frank now teaches two English classes, the computer classes and is studying graphics arts for working in our new printing shop. Frank's parents are divorced. He has several brothers and sisters. Frank has had to take responsibility early because of an unstable family situation. He has had much care for one of his younger brothers. His family likes to have him visit but make no effort to help him or to visit him here in Aguas Lindas. They only phone if they want something from him! In many ways, the people of Free Flight have become his family and his support system.

Frank is a good worker, has taken on more and more responsibility and has capacity for a good future. I believe that Frank will turn 20 years old in May of this year.

Josue Moura Nunes - Josue was born in the north of Brazil (Pernam buco state), lived in Sao Paulo for a short time and then in the North again. About three years ago, Josue came to live with his father, who at that time, was teaching at Free Flight. His father now teaches in a school in Aguas Lindas but Josue continues to study English at Free Flight. He has taken several courses over the past three years, including drums, which he now teaches for Free Flight. Josue is 14 years old and still in school. I think he turns 15 at the beginning of June. Josue's parents have divorced. His father is planning to marry again. We are not sure just how well this will work out for Josue. Josue is very independent, as is Frank, having gotten used to caring pretty much for himself. Josue likes sports and music. We aren't sure what he plans to do for future studies.

Both Josue and Frank play in Free Flight's band which accompanies the music for our afternoon Sunday school. Both are Christians and want to serve the Lord.
